The 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month

This was the view we had for the 2 min silence at 11 AM on 11 November 2012. We owe so much to those who have given their all.

OVER IOO YEARS OF RAMBLING

YORK CHA AND HF
RAMBLING CLUB

Founded 1908
2008 was the Centenary Year of York's oldest surviving walking organization the York CHA & HF Rambling Club.

We hold rambles every three weeks, each with a choice of walks of varying length as well as regular social events and short holiday breaks.

The Club holds a wealth of archive material and old photographs, some of which have been included in a commemorative book, entitled 100 YEARS OF RAMBLING,. The book charts the history of the Club and includes photographs and personal memories, some going back many years. It has been researched, written, edited and produced entirely by Club members – truly a book about the members, by the members for the members.

Some of our members were associated with the pioneering of the Pennine Way, the Lyke Wake Walk and were responsible for founding one of the country’s first Youth Hostels in the village of Crayke in the Howardian Hills.
The book is still available at the bargain price of only £7.00 and it is hoped that members, past members, friends and supporters will buy a copy. If you would like to order a book please use the CONTACT US section.
